Timber Mountain Log Ride

Thrill seekers of all ages can barrel through the wild and wet darkness at speeds of up to 12 feet per second on the Timber Mountain Log Ride at Knotts Berry Farm. The oldest log flume ride in the country and the inspiration for Disney’s Splash Mountain, Timber Mountain riders experience 2,100 feet of twisting, turning excitement through a 19th century lumber camp before taking a final exhilarating plunge down a steep 42-foot open flume. The ride is housed in an eight story building disguised as a mountain and is powered by 24,000 gallons of madly rushing water.

Actor John Wayne was the first guest to ride when this attraction, originally named the Calico Log Ride, opened on July 11, 1969. Plans for a refurbishment during the first half of 2013 call for renovation of the logging camp’s automated figures and sets along with the addition of new scenes. The attraction will reopen on Memorial Day weekend. This classic ride can be found in the Ghost Town section of the park and is Knotts Berry Farm’s most popular ride.

Guests must be at least 46 inches tall or be accompanied by a responsible person to experience the Timber Mountain Log Ride.
